Stairs and carry distance
The time on a Bellingham job is often in the carrying, not the loading. Tell us how many steps and how far from the door the truck can park, and we will plan the crew and the estimate around it.

Basements full of forty years of storage, a couch at the top of a hillside staircase, a rental that has to be empty by the end of the month. We carry it out, load it and take it away.
A lot of Bellingham was built on a hill, and it shows the moment something heavy has to leave a house. In Fairhaven, South Hill and Edgemoor, a front door can sit forty or fifty steps above the street. In Sehome, Columbia, York and the Lettered Streets, older houses have narrow stairwells, tight landings and basements with one small door out. On the hillsides around Lake Whatcom and Chuckanut, driveways are steep enough that the truck stops at the bottom and everything gets walked down.
Then there is the parking. Plenty of these streets are narrow, lined with cars, and steep. We plan a load around where the truck can safely sit and how far each item has to travel, so you are not left managing it.
Bellingham also has a rhythm to its junk. Every June, the rentals around Western Washington University turn over at once and couches, mattresses and desks pile up at the curb. Older homes get cleared for a sale or after a parent moves into care. Basements that stayed damp all winter finally get emptied when the weather turns. We work all of it, from one item to the whole house.

Junk removal, from a single chair to a full truck, carried out of any room.
Furniture removal for sofas, sectionals, beds and dressers, including down long exterior stairs.
Appliance removal for old fridges, washers, dryers and water heaters, sent for recycling.
Hot tub removal from decks and tight side yards on sloped lots.
Estate cleanouts for older homes being cleared after a death, a move to care or a sale.
Garage, basement and attic cleanouts for the storage that built up in older houses.
Yard waste removal for brush piles, branches and windstorm debris.
Construction debris removal for remodels in older homes, without a dumpster blocking a narrow street.

Old plaster, painted trim and narrow stair turns mark easily. We pad corners, wrap furniture and take things apart when that is what it takes to get them out without damage.
Late spring and June are the busiest weeks for rental cleanouts near the university. If you manage a rental or you are a parent clearing out a student's place, book early and send photos of what is left.
Usable furniture and household goods go to donation where they can, metal and appliances go to recycling, and only what is left goes for disposal at a permitted facility.
Mostly by how much of the truck your things take up, plus anything that adds work or disposal cost: heavy items, appliances, long carries, stairs and items that have to be taken apart. In Bellingham, stairs and carry distance matter more than in most places. Send photos and tell us about the access and we will give you a straight estimate. Our guide to what junk removal costs goes through each factor.
We do not haul hazardous materials: paint, solvents, chemicals, fuel, propane tanks, asbestos, or medical and biohazard waste. Those have their own drop off programs in Whatcom County. Almost everything else in a normal house, garage or yard we can take. See what junk removal will not take for where those items go instead.
If it is still clean and in good shape, a donation or a resale listing may take it. If not, it needs to go to a facility that accepts mattresses, and some of them can be recycled rather than buried. We pick up mattresses and box springs as part of any load, carry them down from the bedroom and handle the drop off.
There is a minimum charge for a single item or a very small load, because the truck and crew still make the trip. We will tell you what it is before we book, and if your load is small, we will say so.
Tell us what has to go and how far it is from the door to the street. A few photos are the fastest way to an accurate estimate.
